Kalani Quarterback Bradin Tollefsen (11) escapes the grasp of Ayzen Yamamoto-Perez (12), Kohala’s defense, and runs to the end zone. With time ticking in the fourth quarter, Tollefsen clutched Kalani’s first touchdown of the night. On Friday, Aug. 15, Kalani’s football team traveled to Farrington High School where Farrington hosted Kalani versus Big Island’s Kohala football game. The final score was 7-6 with Kalani taking home the win.

Bits of plastic lie tangled together and half-buried in the white sandy beach at Kaimana in Kailua. Plastics post a significant environmental challenge in Hawai'i, a state renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and rich biodiversity. The islands are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of plastics pollution, as ocean currents transport debris from distance shores.

From the Koko Head Ridge you can see the Koko Head Crater Botanical Gardens and the Hawaii Kai past it. The sun had just risen in the photo so for the first time in that morning hikers were able to see the town, gardens, ocean, and other mountains clearly.
